I think I just got lucky with that load, as I think it's probably a little slow burn rate for that bullet. They were more less to run through my AR for fun.Īs far as a hunting load, I've gotten 1/2 MOA using RL15 w a 60 g Hornady V max out of a 1:8 Wylde chambered AR. They're accuracy was never sub MOA, but they were all FMJs and I wasn't so concerned with accuracy. I've done a lot of 55 g loads with Varget behind them. Which power would you choose of these four? As an engineer, I enjoy tinkering with loads and will likely be searching for the “perfect load” until Doomsday or the money runs out (more likely). I don’t know if these are good choices for the barrel twist rates shown above, as I have read the faster twist may operate best with heavier bullets. Thus far I have collected a few 55 grain Hornady FMJBT, Hornady SP and V-Max. 223 brass when I ran across it at the range. Brass ratting will pay off i.e., I have collected. In the interval time I’m trying to collect components, which are scarce. I’m trying to collect the funds for optics before I wade into reloading and testing. The second was a custom build raffle rifle with a Mossberg MMR upper receiver and 1 in 9 twist 16.25” barrel. First one was a store bought Colt LE6920 with 1 in 7 twist 16” barrel. I’ve been loading pistol cartridges for a couple of years but have not delved into reloading for a rifle to date.
